September 9th 2008 - Peace Day Parade Brings National Talent to Honoka'a - The Jesse White Tumbling Team, based in Chicago was featured on the Tonight Show with David Letterman, and many other television shows and films.
September 4th 2008 - "Student Poster Art Contest" - Students and teachers are invited to submit posters to the Committee
for display at the Festival (taking place Sunday, September 21, Honokaa
Sports Complex) The theme is Peace is and 1st and 2nd place
prizes ($50 and $25) will be awarded for each grade level (kindergarten
to 12th).
September 4th 2008 - "Read for Peace" at the Honokaa Library, Monday, September 15, 2008. At 6 pm there will be an open house to encourage students and families to Read for Peace.
September 1st 2008 - Hamakua Times: March, Dance, and Drum for Peace - 2nd Annual Parade and Festival for the United Nations International Day of Peace
